Dr. Hiza Mbwana, PT, DPT

Kimbia Physio Single Leg DeadliftHiza (pronounced Hee-za) Mbwana is the principal and founder of KimbiaPhysio, LLC | Dynamic & Performance PT, a Maryland-based physiotherapy and performance business specializing in treating sports-related orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders. When he was a child his parents relocated to Upstate New York to attend Cornell University. Growing up, Hiza attended many sporting events and soon came to realize that he was more fascinated with what it took to become a skilled athlete. His parents’ focus on healthy living and emphasis on “outside play” inspired him to follow a career path that would allow him to help others improve their quality of life. He attended Northeastern University and earned his degree in 2007 as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and has been practicing in Maryland ever since. In 2010 Washington Magazine listed Hiza as one of the Top Physical Therapists in the D.C. area.

Hiza began his career as a Staff Physical Therapist and was later promoted to Clinical Director. His career also includes a stint at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama, where he learned how to safely develop and execute advanced rehabilitation protocols for athletes incorporating manual therapy and pain science.

Hiza’s passion for health and overall wellness is a major part of his personal life as well. He lives in North Bethesda, Maryland and enjoys trail running and cycling in the DC Metro area with his friends and family.
